Zusammenfassung:
The School Science and Mathematics
Association strives to be an inclusive professional community bringing
together researchers and teachers to promote research, scholarship, and
practice to improve school science and mathematics and to advance the
integration of school science and mathematics.
SSMA's mission may best be described in terms of three strands of content
focus relating to three target audiences. These are the issues relating to
teacher education, research, and K-12 teachers and are outlined in the
following list:
- Teacher Education
- Issues related to the Preparation and Enhancement of Teachers
- Research Research into Practice/Practice into Research
- Target Audience
- Higher Education Faculty
- K-16 School Leaders
- K-16 Classroom Teachers
The Goals:
Four goals define the activities and products of the School Science and
Mathematics Association:
1. Building and sustaining a community of teachers, researchers, scientists,
and mathematicians
2. Advancing knowledge through research in science and mathematics education
and their integration
3. Informing practice through the dissemination of scholarly works in and
across science and mathematics
4. Influencing policy in science and mathematics education at local, state,
and national levels
